Personal Data Management.

What data do we collect?

Teach TEFL in China collects the following data:

  • Personal identification information (name, email address, phone number, passport number, birth date, etc.).
  • Educational history information (university attended/attending, graduation year).
  • Medical condition (allergies or illness).
  • Technical information (screen name, IP address, browser and device data, information collected through cookies, pixel tags and other technologies, server log file data, app usage data and location data).

 

How do we collect your data?

You directly provide us with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data in the following ways:

  • Directly from you: Information is collected directly from you, either by you providing the information directly to us or you acting in a manner that provides us with the information, for example:
  • Offline: We collect Personal Data from you offline, for example when you contact customer service, enroll in a service or provide information to us in writing or by telephone.
  • Online: We collect your Personal Data through our website, for example when you sign up for a brochure, contact us via our website, or use a service such as our teacher portal. 

We also collect Personal Data:

  • From our corporate affiliates or business partners. We may receive Personal Data from other parties in conjunction with your program, including:
    • Our corporate affiliates, such as the school in your country of destination, or the Chinese principal company that is located in China and is responsible for the performance of the contract with you.
    • Business partners, such as local recruitment agents that promote our services in your country of residence.
  • From other sources. We may receive your Personal Data from other sources, such as public databases; licensed databases from third parties; joint marketing partners such as marketing agencies or providers of software and services for digital marketing automation and analytics; social media platforms, including but not limited to; Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and messenger services such as WhatsApp, WeChat or Facebook Messenger; from people with whom you are friends or otherwise connected with on social media platforms, as well as from other third parties. For example, if you elect to connect your social media account to ours, such Personal Data that you have registered in your profile, such as your email address, phone number, postal address, date of birth, name and user name will be shared with us. Furthermore, we use cookies to track members of social media networks. 

 

How do we use your data?

We collect your data for the purposes of providing you with employment services, for customer service, administrative services, or as otherwise necessary to perform the contract between you and us, or as further described in this policy.

We may also use Personal Data:

  • For statistical purposes, calculating usage levels, and helping diagnose server problems with our websites, as well as to ensure that the websites function properly.

  • We share your Personal Data with our corporate affiliates, business partners and service providers both within and outside of the UK, EU and China:
  • Our corporate affiliates are for example a local Chinese school that provides employment.
  • Business partners are for example local recruiters that promote our services in your country of residence; transportation or accommodation providers in your destination country; companies that provide a digital learning platform, or an insurance company that prepares medical insurance for you.
  • Service providers, such as providers of IT systems, for example for managing customer relations, providing online learning, or storing learning results; or providers of software and services for data administration, digital marketing automation and analytics.
  • We also share Personal Data as we believe to be necessary: (a) under applicable law; (b) to comply with legal process; (c) to respond to requests from public and government authorities including public and government authorities outside your country of residence; (d) to enforce our terms and conditions or a contract; (e) to protect our operations or those of any of our affiliates; (f) to protect our rights, privacy, safety or property, and/or that of our affiliates, you or others; and (g) to allow us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain.

How Do We Store Your Data?

Teach TEFL in China is committed to keeping your personal data safe and secure from unauthorised access or unauthorised alterations, disclosure, or destruction of information that we hold.

Our security measures include:

  • encryption of our services and data;
  • review our information collection, storage and processing practices, including physical security measures;
  • restrict access to personal access to personal information to employees, contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to process it for us and who are subject to contractual confidentiality and processing obligations. They may be disciplined or their contract terminated if they fail to meet these obligations; and
  • internal policies setting out our data security approach and training for employees.

 

We use appropriate organizational, technical and administrative measures to keep the Personal Data under our control accurate and up-to-date, as well as to protect the Personal Data against unauthorized or unlawful processing and the accidental loss, destruction or damage of the Personal Data. Marketing Communications.

Teach TEFL in China may send you marketing information about services or employment opportunities that we think you might be interested in, such as teaching positions, and information related to China, such as that provided in our Countdown to China guides.

You may choose not to receive marketing emails from us by following the unsubscribe instructions contained in the marketing emails we send. If you do not wish to receive calls you may inform us by email or inform the representative you are speaking with and we will remove your details from our systems, except where necessary to ensure you are not contacted in future. Please note that even if you unsubscribe from marketing communications, we may still email you regarding matters related to your employment if you are under our employ.
